About Marrying Truth and Faith

A space where faith and truth converge in meaningful dialogue

How it started

Growing up in a non-Christian family, I had little exposure to Christianity until a friend invited me to church when I was around 14. This invitation marked the beginning of my journey of questioning and exploration of the Christian faith. After years of searching, I took a leap of faith at 20 and made the decision to commit my life to Christ.

Conflict between faith and truth

As I continued my faith journey, I noticed that while I believe some widely preached concepts to be true, they lack the robust justification needed to confidently present them as objective truths, particularly in conversations with non-believers. Among fellow Christians, these differences were often easy to navigate because we share a common faith and typically focus on applying shared beliefs to our lives. But in interactions with those outside the faith, I found that presenting certain doctrines as absolute truths that everyone should hold to didn’t sit well with me, as it often relied on faith rather than convincing evidence.

I see this pattern frequently in Christian content, from the sermons at my church to the YouTube videos on Christian topics that I consume online. In response, I’ve made it a mission within my Christian community to point out and discuss them. I’ve also started writing weekly articles on Medium to shed light on these questions, aiming to approach Christianity with a balanced and truth-centered perspective.

Now, taking it a step further, I’ve launched this blog called Marrying Truth and Faith (MTF), dedicated to exploring these nuanced topics in depth.

Mission Statement and Vision

At Marrying Truth and Faith (MTF), I envision a space where faith and truth converge in meaningful dialogue. I aim to provide a platform that offers a balanced, thoughtful exploration of Christianity, with a focus on intellectual honesty, clarity, and respect for truth. MTF aspire to be a resource for both believers and seekers, where complex Christian concepts are addressed critically and thoughtfully, with an emphasis on key concepts within the faith, as well as on the broader questions of truth and relevance surrounding Christianity.

I envision MTF to be more than just a blog—it is a community where questions are welcomed, doubts are respected, and truth is pursued with integrity. Our content will seek to challenge assumptions, engage with contemporary issues, and offer insights into how the Christian faith remains relevant in today’s world. Through in-depth articles, discussions, and resources, I envision MTF as a place for those on a spiritual journey to gain greater understanding, not just of Christianity, but also of their own beliefs and values.

Ultimately, I hope that MTF will empower people to marry truth and faith—where faith is strengthened by a thoughtful consideration of truth, and truth is illuminated by a life lived in faith.

Resources

MTF currently offers two primary resources:

  • Blog – A collection of articles that are more informal, opinion-based, and may cover current events.
  • Wiki – A structured repository of timeless content, presenting multiple perspectives with an objective approach.

As MTF grows, additional content types such as interviews, debates, and book reviews may be introduced.
